“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming ‘WOO-HOO, WHAT A RIDE’.” ~Anonymous~

Yesterday, we (daughter Kelsi, son Zachary, & friend Dagny) did the 25 mile Bike for Bob benefit ride in Lewisburg PA. Dr. Robert Bernstein, was a Lewisburg ophthalmologist and was fatally injured in Lewisburg on August 2004. I will remember this because it was one week after my daughter hit the rear end of a dump truck on my old Fuji & was injured, also the same day I had ACL reconstruction, meniscus removal, etc. The BFB benefits the local recreational authority & Rails to Trails. Setting the starting pace was Thomas Dominick, M.D. & the Lewisburg Police over the bridge to Montandon which led to the beautiful rolling country roads of Union & Montour County. Thanks to volunteers! I wish to pat myself on the "ride ride the butt off"! I did the 25 miles & feel just so fine! When we got back, we ventured to the Arts Festival & checked out some of the local Antique Shops.
This was my first ride with a mass. I often would shy away from these events because I lack the confidence. I have to face the next venture next Saturday - MY FIRST MTB race. I am already scared to death! I was told not to look at it as a race, make it a personal endeavor. ~
